Why have we chosen just snails? The answer is clear. They have tasty and healthy meat free of fat and cholesterol! On the other hand, the high unsaturated fatty acid content of snail meat helps to reduce them.

Delicatessen Snailex LLC, started the snail farming and processing in 1991, that means in the same time, when the French also found themselves at the very beginning of farming this snail species. Even two years of financial and mental losses did not cause us to stop our activity – and we have developed our own successful and ecological technology of farming and processing. Our King Snails are fed with the assortment of ground cereals, soy beans, fiber, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and calcite with no growth accelerating additives nor chemicals. We succeeded to domesticate this snail species and, in particular, to initiate their reproduction in the climatic conditions of the Czech Republic. The fact, that you can see and even taste products, you will not find anywhere all over the world, we consider to be our great reward.

You certainly know, that the people started to eat snails long ago. Even in the ancient Greece and Rome the snails were farmed in special gardens and parks to be served on feasts in numerous gourmet variants. They are nice trimmings to festive tables and are among the most attractive starters all over the world. In Europe, they are usually served on Christmas and Easter, as the Pope blessed and recognized the snails as an Advent meal.

The snail is considered to be very slow, in farming we can speak about a record holder. Within only three months it grows up to its slaughter weight (this represents a 200 time weight increase) and it is able to lay up to 300 eggs at a time. It is not demanding for space and it does not trouble the neighbourhood by any noise or stink.

In the nature, Helix Aspersa Maxima (Gros Gris - big edible snail) lives only in the Northern Africa and looks like European garden snail species. But it grows up already in the age of five months, its reproduction ability is stronger and its high quality meat is appraised more within the gastronomy. It is a real Snail the King!
